Prehistoric Postcards

Welcome to a work in progress.

In 2008 I bought an old postcard album that contained a number of cards depicting French Menhirs and Dolmen. I became fascinated by these little cards. Their stories of  landscapes peopled by giants and druids, devils and witches.

This sparked a brief but intense obsession which saw me collecting cards from car boot sales and online auction sites, rarely ever paying more than a pound for a card. My obsession didn’t last long, a couple of years at most, but during which time I managed to collect a couple of hundred cards. I own physical copies of all the cards pictured and have previously posted a number of these cards on various websites but have now decided to put them all in one place. Once the collection is on line, I plan to start adding information about the images and locations.

  1. Hello, I work for a graphic design studio based in northern Italy.
We’d like to feature some of your menhir postcards in a book we are designing. We would credit your name in the book of course. Please contact me if you’re interested for more details.
